Paintless Dent Repair First
Paintless dent repair PDR or paintless dent removal is always the preferred method for repairing hail damage. Paintless Dent Repair is a technique used to remove dents and dings from vehicle body panels without the need for painting or filling.
Once the panel has been repaired, the dents will not return. PDR is more of a restorative technique as it literally reverses the damage.
What are the limitations to paintless dent repair (PDR)?
Paintless dent repair’s primary use is for repairing door dings and auto hail repair. There are only a few reasons PDR would not be an option for a complete repair.
Paint damage. A ‘true’ paintless dent repair requires the area in and around the dented surface to have no paint damage including scrapes, peeling, bubbling, scratching, or chipping.
Metal only. Plastic bumpers, fenders, and other non-metal parts exceed the limitations of paintless dent repair.
Surface area. When the surface area of a singular body panel is so damaged, it may be more cost- effective to replace it rather than use paintless dent repair.
In-House Auto Body Repair
While paintless dent repair has numerous benefits, it is not always appropriate. Sometimes, your insurance company will write an estimate that includes both paintless dent repair and conventional auto body shop work. For example, dents that are too complex or have deep creases might need panel replacement and repainting.
As a ‘paintless dent repair first’ shop, if your insurance adjuster has indicated a panel replacement, we will make sure it can’t be repaired with PDR.
