Over 20+ Cities Hit By Record-Breaking Hail Storms
Chicago is known for their baseball but “baseball-sized hail” is not on that list. Multiple cities across the city of Chicago saw major spring storms that produced wind gusts of over 70MPH, ping-pong to baseball-sized hail stones, and flooding.
O’Hare and Midway International Airports flight delays and cancellations are piling up with an average delay of 30 minutes.
Chicago utility companies are preparing for power outages as a result of the storms.
Chicago Area Cities Hit Hardest
The hardest hit cities are Northern Aurora, Palatine, Sandwich, Montgomery, Deerfield area, and Skokie area.
“At least one report has already come in of baseball-size hail in the area, with a hailstone in Sandwich, located in DeKalb County, measuring 2.75 inches, according to trained weather spotters.” – NBC Chicago
There have also been multiple reports of downed trees and electrical poles.
